Acceptable Use & Merchant Onboarding
Who can use ZeroPay, what cannot be sold through it, and the checks we and our payment partners apply.

1. Onboarding requirements
- A live Shopify store selling your own goods or services.
- A WhatsApp Business account in the business's name.
- A payment aggregator account that has completed KYC in line with the RBI Master Direction on Know Your Customer, 2016 and the PA/PG Guidelines dated 17 March 2020.
- Valid business registration and GST registration where applicable.
- A settlement bank account in the business's own name.
2. Prohibited categories
- Gambling, betting, lotteries and fantasy money games
- Cryptocurrency trading, mining and virtual asset exchange
- Unregistered lending, investment advice or deposit schemes
- Narcotics, tobacco, prescription drugs without licence
- Weapons, ammunition and explosives
- Adult content and escort services
- Counterfeit, replica or pirated goods
- Multi-level marketing, pyramid and chain schemes
- Collections on behalf of unrelated third parties
- Any goods or services prohibited under Indian law
3. Restricted categories
Categories such as nutraceuticals, ayurvedic products, healthcare services, ticketing, travel, jewellery, and high-value electronics may be permitted subject to licences, proof of stock and additional monitoring by your payment partner.
4. Transaction monitoring
Order patterns are monitored for indicators of misuse, including repeated collections to an unrelated beneficiary, sharp unexplained volume changes, structuring below reporting thresholds, and orders with no corresponding fulfilment. Suspicious activity may be reported to the payment partner and to authorities as required under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.
5. Customer communication rules
Messages must be transactional and tied to an order the customer initiated. Bulk promotional messaging, misleading claims and pressure tactics are not permitted and may also breach WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy.
6. Consequences of breach
Breach may result in warning, feature restriction, suspension or termination under our Terms & Conditions, and reporting to the relevant payment partner or authority.
